Psalm 112 - Day 112

1 Praise the LORD.[b]
Blessed are those who fear the LORD,
   who find great delight in his commands.
2 Their children will be mighty in the land;
   the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in their houses,
   and their righteousness endures forever.
4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
   for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
   who conduct their affairs with justice.
6 Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
   they will be remembered forever.
7 They will have no fear of bad news;
   their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
8 Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
   in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
9 They have scattered abroad their gifts to the poor,
   their righteousness endures forever;
   their horn[
c] will be lifted high in honor.
10 The wicked will see and be vexed,
   they will gnash their teeth and waste away;
   the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.
Verse 7 "They will have no fear of bad news..." This has my dad's name written all over it! He has been through so much physical road blocks but his spirits and faith is even stronger yet. It doesn't matter what you say to him, he turns it all to God for strength. I'm sure most of us would say we would be like this, but then when something happens, we quickly turn inward to ourselves. "Woe is me!" "Why me Lord?" "How could this happen?" "What have I done to deserve this?" "When will my misery end?" These are typical questions and statements me come up with. Not my dad. "God has a plan." "God will help me get through this." These are my dad's words. He has gone through not only so much physically these last 3 years, but spiritually this man has changed! He was always a believer, but he is more so today. It's unfortunate we sometimes have to go through bad things to see the light and to see God's glory, but honestly, I would rather go through trials and hardship than to sit still and turn stale. We are attacked more by the enemy during these hard times, but I love the feeling when we conquer them knowing we have defeated evil and have grown closer to God. Thanks dad for showing me first-hand how this whole relationship with God is supposed to work!
