Psalm 1 - Day 1 - Book I

¹ Blessed are those
   who do not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
   or sit in the company of mockers,
² but who delight in the law of the LORD
   and meditate on his law day and night.
³ They are like a tree planted by streams of water,
   which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
   whatever they do prospers.

⁴ Not so the wicked!
   They are like chaff
   that the wind blows away.
⁵ Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
   nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

⁶ For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
   but the way of the wicked will be destroyed.

Wow! I feel blessed. Not because I do everything in verse one, but because I have read this. So how do I completely free myself from walking in step with the wicked or sitting in company of mockers? There is so much sin all around that I feel like I would never be around anyone. Verse 2; meditate on his law day and night. This is what I'm trying to do now. I pray every morning on my way to drop pea pod off at the sitters, through out the day and before I go to bed. I'm hoping this devotion will help me become more connected during the day as well. Verse 5-6; the wicked will not stand in the judgment nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous...the way of the wicked will be destroyed. I'm so glad this is here because of all the recent news about OBL being killed, I've really had a problem with the word "justice". Only because who are we to give justice out? No one. It's not our job and the Lord will take care of it come judgment day. They will not be able to stand.
