Psalm 3 - Day 3

A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.
[a]1 LORD, how many are my foes!
   How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
   “God will not deliver him.”[
b]
3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me,
   my glory, the one who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the LORD,
   and he answers me from his holy mountain.
5 I lie down and sleep;
   I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
6 I will not fear though tens of thousands
   assail me on every side.
7 Arise, LORD!
   Deliver me, my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
   break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the LORD comes deliverance.
   May your blessing be on your people.
It sure seems some days/people are out to get you. They don't want you to succeed but fail. It's like they get pleasure watching you suffer in misery. But I'm sure it only 'seems' this way. The Lord is our shield and is there to protect us from true harm. Of course sometimes that doesn't help you feel better in the situation and you feel like you are being harmed. He is there to always lift you up.

When pea pod was learning to walk, it was one of the most exhilarating times for me and him I'm sure. Just watching him step-by-step gain more freedom and confidence was something I could not provide for him, but allow him to experience. As he stared to fall and huge goose eggs appeared on his head, I quickly realized a life's lesson I had been taught by my parents and had hoped to pass along to him. "There will be many times you fall down in life, and I might not be there to catch you when you do fall, but I will ALWAYS be there to pick you up."

This is what our Lord provides for us. Verse 3; ...the one who lifts my head high...Verse 4; he answers me from his holy mountain. Oh Lord, please deliver me!

And once again, humor. Verse 7; ...Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. I do not need to worry about them getting what they deserve. The Lord already has that taken care of.
